This was the third of the collaborative projects devised for the vU3A pilot group in 2006.  It  worked in a similar way to the earlier Windmills group, only this time the topic was Islands.

The result was another batch of interesting and entertaining submissions on islands as disparate as Tasmania and the Isle of Wight, Spetses in Greece and Mull in Scotland.No further proof was really needed of the viability of online collaboration and the pursuit of the U3A mode of learning. From this moment on, serious attention would be given to other, perhaps less alluring aspects of a vU3A – such as the structure and administrative procedures necessary to accommodate a sizeable membership.
